Life of Bishop Antonín Liška České Budějovice

The paper deals with the life and work of Antonín Liška, 11th bishop of České Budějovice. It begins with his birth in Bohumilice, describes his family background, studies and preparation for the vocation of priest, his entrance in the Congregation ofthe Most Holy Redeemer. It further describes the assault on and violent dissolution of male religious orders in Czechoslovakia, Antonín?s work with the Auxiliary Technical Troops, his secret ordination and civil occupation. It further deals with the year 1968 and its significance in the life of Antonín Liška, his activity in Poříčí nad Sázavou, his work at the Archbishopric of Prague and his ordination to bishop. A major part of the work focuses on the activity of the Father bishop in the diocese of České Budějovice. The last chapter provides a characteristic of Antonín Liška?s personality.
